The Shepherd’s Home is an orphanage/school for children who have lost their parents to the African AIDS epidemic. There are 50 children at the The Shepherd’s Home, one of many such orphanages in Kenya.
Here in the US, donors, missionaries, and supplies are gathered by a 20+ year old ministry organization called Discover the World. DTW has sponsors for every child at SH through college. (Most of the children are currently in elementary and middle school). Sponsors include individuals and groups, such as churches, girl scout troops, etc.
The challenge that they face is common to many child sponsorship organizations: communication flow between children and sponsors is very slow. Mail takes months, and sponsors get frustrated. SixThreeThree worked with The Shepherd's Home to research an online option that allowed for faster and easier communication via the internet, but kept all of the privacy and child-safety measures in place.
